This lesson provides creative and authentic ways of applying knowledge. The students first read a book about Diego Rivera in which they learned all about his life. They were then asked to color in individual copies of one of Diego's famous murals.
Next, the students were given the opportunity to use oil pastels and learn how difficult it was for Diego Rivera to work with them. They were put into groups within their tables and asked to color in a section of the mural that I had sketched for them (located on the left). Once this was done, we put it altogether as one mural. Lastly, the students were asked to complete a small research project on Diego Rivera and list 4-5 facts about him. |
