We went to Old Tucson for Ted Walker Day. We learned so much on our trip! This day is dedicated to enhancing children's experience and expanding their knowledge through experience based learning. I believe this keeps the students interested and learning.
They learned all about local western heritage as well as the development of Southern Arizona and Northern Sonora, Mexico. They learned about Schools on the Frontier, The American Cowboy and the history of Stagecoach. Over 20 organizations came together to provide an educational filled day of fun activities for local schools! |

Here we are at the Lunar New Year Play, Year of the Dog. Put on by the Asian Pacific American and Refugee Student Services at a local high school. This was a short field trip that we took to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The students learned all about the Chinese Zodiac sign and it is called The Year of the Dog.
The children loved this field trip! It incorporated Chinese, Hawaiian, Japanese, Bhutanese-Nepali and Arabic dances in the program. I thought it would be a good idea to have the students find out their Chinese zodiac sign for homework to connect the content. The students were asked to find their sign as well as everyone in their families and bring it back to school the following week. They seemed to really enjoy this assignment! |
