Varies instructional strategy and teacher role to address student's diverse learning styles and needs.
Here I am working with students individually and in small groups in order to differentiate instruction. Because my class is working at a variety of grade levels, not just 4th, I make sure to work with small groups and individuals in order for them to best understand the material. Here I am working with students on their guided reading story where they are drawing the food chain web and how animals get their energy. This is because we read a book about the food chain and they are now applying their knowledge on their own.
Because my students all have various personalities and behaviors, I made this laminated wet-erase expectations chart that I check off for my students each day. When they were on task and listening during the day, I will check off their smiley for the day. At the end of the week they will receive an award for their good behavior during the week. This keeps my students that are constantly off track to stay on track and complete their work. I listed these as the expectations for the week because these are what I believe my students need to work on to keep them accountable.
Here is a picture of me reading to my students a story called My Grandfather's Journey which is about a boy learning about his father's life in Japan.
